Bihar, Mahatma Gandhi Setu bridgeBihar with its capital as Patna, certainly bears the heavy weight of a glorious history, but bears it with much sensitivity and awareness. It is a land blessed with beauty both metaphysical and physical.

The ways things have changed positively in Bihar are incredible. It was a state with the worst image & it was at the bottom in every field since a long time. Development & progress were two unknown words for this state. Its a cruel fact but being known/called as Bihari was a matter of shame (that’s my personal observation with people of Bihar living in other states as i have spent more than 30 moths in other states & has  done a close study over it) for its people living in other states.

But in last decade, this state has shown unbelievable progress & today Bihar is fastest growing state, leaving Gujarat behind with a maximum progress rate of undoubtedly the whole credit goes to the current Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The man who changed the state within a decade and today the same state is setting an example for others in every field.

Infrastructure: Fast cars, polished roads, Multiplexes, Modern hospitals & tall buildings are the evidence of this express development. You can watch people enjoying late night on the roads in cities which shows the trust of civilians on the administration & low crime rate. The above is a high definition image taken at Biskoman Bhawan (Near Gandhi Maidan) which represents the glory of Patna (the capital of Bihar) at night.

Fastest growing state Beats Gujarat: It is the same state which was growing with a slowest Economical growth rate of 2.9% in the interval of 2001-05 but amazingly the same Bihar has grown up in the interval of 2006-10 at a smashing rate of 10.9% beating Gujarat (9.3%) which is considered as the fastest growing state of the country.

World Class Medical facilities: Talking about health, Bihar has opened world class hospitality services & setting an example for other states as well. What’s more Bihar has vanished Polio cases from the state & no case of this disease has been found after September 2010. Now Bihar is teaching Pakistan to eradicate Polio.

Industrial Development: Recently Nitish Kumar has announced the First IT park in Bihar (Near Bihta) similar to  Bangalore’s International Tech Park. Investors are coming in the state & this is preventing the migration of  labors from Bihar. Shortage of labors in Punjab & other states are the evidence of this development. (Details here).

Travel & Road infrastructure: Road infrastructure become so nice even national capital Delhi will be jealous to have long and well built road like Bihar. Wide & well polished road are governing the development of the state. Now traveler measures the roads s in hour distance and not by Kilometers enjoying every second of their journey in comfortable Volvo buses of Bihar.

New Bridge Connecting Ashok Cinema to Karbigahiya

The Capital Patna is well managed with the help of over-bridges and flyovers. The top view of Patna seems you are flying over a European city. What’s more, The Bihar govt has given green signal for Metro rail service. So it won’t be amazing if the traffic of Bihar moves with Metro rails.

bihar tourism

Tourism: Doesn’t matter if its a national or international stage Bihar is getting attention everywhere  & even foreign media is appreciating the development of Bihar.

Increment of foreigner to visit Bihar is another proof of development of tourism in Bihar , recently the government has taken some serious stems to develop tourism in Bihar & as a result, the state is expecting over 1 million foreign tourism as govt. reports say that 9.72 lakh foreigners visited the state’s tourist attractions including Bodh Gaya, Rajgir and Nalanda.

But being honest what i think that Bihar government needs to work more on in the field of tourism as better opportunities are there.

The changing face of this state has wondered everyone around the globe & honestly this is a major factor which forced me to write an article about the progress of Bihar.

Electricity: The state is no doubt lagging in the field of electricity & the major problem is of coal blocks. The central government has not allocated enough number of coal blocks to this state & Bihar is continuously demanding more coal blocks to fulfill its requirements. Although the CM Nitish Kumar has promised for electricity by next assembly polls.

Bihar is also fighting to get the status of special state from the central government so that it get additional funds in order to complete some of its grand projects.

You must be thinking why i have given a comparative data here. By presenting the above data i am not aiming to prove  that Bihar is better than other state. I am just trying to convey those people who always tease Biharis for their state (which is still a lagging state for them). I tried here to present the real image of Bihar. Being Bihari is not a crime neither a matter of shame rather you should feel proud to be called a Bihari.

I tried my best to present the every aspect of Bihar but the beauty of this glorious state can not be explain here. If you think i have missed something, kindly add it by commenting here. I hope, i have successfully presented a real image of my state. Although I accept that we had some bad experience but these new changes are awesome & Bihar is on its way to back its historical glory. Come visit Bihar & get colored with the culture of this wonderful state.
